Cosmetics, groceries, household supplies: The name ROSSMANN is synonymous with product diversity and first-class service, not just in Germany. The drugstore chain operates all over Europe and has also been present in the Czechia for 31 years with over 200 stores. Here, the company sets new standards: ROSSMANN was the first drugstore chain to introduce cashless self-checkouts, offers AI-generated customer support in their online shop and has also been recognized as a top employer. Always a step ahead, ROSSMANN, together with SSI SCHAEFER, has been continuing this spirit of innovation in their logistics too across countries for years.
Together, the two companies have already implemented efficient logistics solutions in Hungary and Poland, securing a competitive advantage for the drugstore giant. Now another warehouse is to follow in Czechia – especially given that demand in stores, but above all in e-commerce, continues to rise. In order to be able to manage this growth in the future, the partners have joined forces for another major project: In Kozomín, near Prague, a semi-automated warehouse is being built, enabling more efficient processes, faster order processing and higher throughput for ROSSMANN.
The new warehouse is designed as an omnichannel solution and will supply all Czech branches as well as customers from the online shop. However, that is not the only challenge: “We need a system with which we can efficiently handle our large product range,” Tomáš Pimpara, Head of Logistics at ROSSMANN Czechia explains. “And it has to happen quickly: We are growing rapidly and want to implement the new logistics solution as soon as possible. In Hungary, we saw that the following was possible: SSI SCHAEFER implemented a logistics solution there in no time, taking our intralogistics to a whole new level.” In order to stick to the tight schedule, SSI SCHAEFER acts as general contractor in Czechia too. Another advantage: The intralogistics expert is represented locally with a nearby branch office.
The logistics center in Kozomín combines different technologies. In the center, there is a three-story pick tower made of steel with shelving systems and flow racks. There, the items are stored and picked at Pick by Light stations: Short routes, intuitive user guidance and optimized processes ensure flexible and reliable order processing. Subsequently, branch orders are conveyed to the shipping area. E-commerce orders are initially repacked into cartons at ergonomic work stations and then transported to the shipping area.
“The semi-automated solution allows ROSSMANN to ensure all customers continue to be satisfied in the future – whether in the online shop or in any branch in Czechia,” says Markus Malli, Sales Healthcare & Cosmetics at SSI SCHAEFER. “We are delighted about the renewed collaboration and the trust that ROSSMANN has placed in us.”
The installation of the logistics solution starts in January 2026, with go-live planned for October 2026. An ambitious project – but both partners are convinced: Given the experienced project team and the tried-and-tested concept, the successful implementation and the future growth of ROSSMANN in Czechia is secured.
