Management, control and cutting-edge automation
WAMAS is the powerful logistics software from SSI SCHAEFER, which centrally controls, monitors and optimizes all of Coop’s warehouse and conveying processes. At its core is the flexible Warehouse Management System (WMS), a central control and optimization instance as well as the Ambient and Chilled areas in the warehouse. Stock management and administration, order management and shipping control ensure effective and efficient operation of the system.
The integrated material flow control of WAMAS seamlessly maps all systems in the warehouse, analyzes material flows, detects bottlenecks and dynamically adapts processes. In addition, WAMAS orchestrates the highly-automated warehouse environment with pallet and small parts warehouses as well as the sophisticated picking and transport processes.
The automation rate for picking processes is 95%. A central element of the system is the SSI Case Picking solution with 10 depalletizers and 34 palletizing robots. After depalletizing, the individual containers removed by the robot are automatically forwarded to the small parts warehouse and are then available in the system for the downstream processes.
Palletizing takes place using the intelligent WAMAS Case Picking module. This enables the robots to stack varying commercial units in the required quantity on pallets in an automated and efficient manner. The correct feeding of the containers is therefore just as important as the optimal pallet structure. The latter is based on powerful algorithms, a modern image processing system and the packaging-related data which may have already been recorded in incoming goods at the teach-in station. This way, the packing sequence of the Coop branch can be adapted, and the stability and volume can be optimized in order to ensure efficient removal and safe transport. In outgoing goods, the modern warehouse software allows for efficient shipping processing to the 800 or so Coop branches that are supplied on time and as required.
Transparent monitoring of all intralogistics processes
A further WAMAS product, the WAMAS Control Center, serves as a central information platform for Coop. It operates in conjunction with the WAMAS WMS and WAMAS MFS. In doing so, it records all relevant process data – through to the field level of the automation technology – as well as the performance of the robots. The entire system is visualized in the control center. The recorded data is consolidated, prepared on a user-specific basis and enables the transparent illustration of the material flows and KPIs. This way, the users have an overview of all warehouse and system processes at all times.
Efficient branch logistics
By integrating WAMAS products into the highly-automated overall system, Coop can supply over 800 branches reliably, sustainably and efficiently. This is a prime example of future-oriented software-driven intralogistics.
