Manager of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE)

Job Purpose:
1) Maintain & continually improve Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental ManagementSystems, Processes and the prevailing HSQE Culture across the company at all levels; .
2) To ensure the company complies with all relevant Swedish, Finnish and EU Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Legislation
3) Ensure that all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental records are kept accessible, complete, up-to-date and regularly audited.
4) Communicate, Consult and Advise on all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental mattersacross the company from the workforce to the Managing Director and senior management team.
5) Provide a high level of HSQE Competence

Key Responsibilities:
1) Safe System of Work
Maintain and Improve Safe Systems of Work across the company which adequately mitigate the hazards and risks and ensure all team comply with all applicable Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation and SSI Schaefer processes
• Ensure that all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Documentation is updated asrequired (Risk Assessments, Method statements, SSOW, Toolbox talks etc) for all operations to comply with all relevant UK legislation and a Quality conformance system.
• Ensure Health and Safety records and KPIs are required. (Competence/Training records, KPIsand H&S Statistics) to comply with all statutory and RM contract requirements

2) Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental System Monitoring / Checking
Ensure that all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental records are kept complete, up-to-date and audited
• Regular Monitoring, Recorded Audits, Spot Checks, Inspections and Audits (Reactive andActive)
• Keep records of these audits and manage the Non Conformances and Corrective Action /Preventative Action Plans
• Accident and Incident Investigation and Defect reporting
• Follow-up and escalate of all issues as required

3) Embed Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Competence and Skills:
Ensure company-wide H&S competence and skills are developed and maintained at an Industry leading level
• Develop Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental competence across the company bytraining, mentoring
• Chair the Health and Safety Committee and Quality and Environmental working groups.

4) We have Systems and Procedures in place that cover how as a business, we deal with themanagement of Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety.

• Each job holder is expected to acquaint themselves with those procedures, and ensure they fully complyand adhere with the requirements, as they apply to their job role.
• Employees have responsibilities for their safety whilst at work and to co-operate with the Company on allhealth & safety requirements.
• Employees have responsibility for information security for all information associated with SSI Schaeferduring employment and where appropriate in respect of Confidentiality, which may extend beyond the employment period.

Education and Background:
• Qualification in Health and Safety Management
• 5 years minimum H&S experience / work at similar level in a similar Experience in anEngineering, Plant or Maintenance environment
• Experience of MHE & Automation / Storage Equipment. Also experience in Engineering andMaintenance

Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Experience / Key Skills:
• Good working knowledge of general Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental matters witha “pragmatic approach” (not a theorist)
• Knowledgeable with all main Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Legislation
• Excellent knowledge of how to manage and control the main risks inherent within the site ..
    o Working at Height Hazards
    o Mechanical Hazards
    o Electrical Hazards
    o Lifting Operation Hazards
    o Plant, Facilities and Automation Hazards
    o Chemical Hazards
    o Environmental Hazards

Other Competencies Required:
• Computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint, MS Exchange
• Knowledge of: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001
• Auditing skills, such as those for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and 45001
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good presentation skills

Physical Demands:
Travel throughout Sweden and Finland across SSI Schaefer and customer sites/locations As and when required oversea travel.

Office conditions and where applicable customer locations and construction sites
Warehouse – Automated Machinery
Ambient environment

Full time 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday 08.00 to 17.00 with one hour for lunch each day.
