Tri-Art Manufacturing Case Study
The initial situation
Tri-Art Manufacturing, a leading producer of high-quality art supplies based in Kingston, Ontario, was facing substantial challenges in their warehouse operations. The company was dealing with fulfillment inefficiencies that led to delays and errors in order processing, negatively impacting customer satisfaction. These issues were further compounded by warehouse storage inefficiencies, where inadequate storage solutions resulted in overcrowded and disorganized spaces. This not only hindered inventory management but also severely limited operational efficiency, affecting Tri-Art's ability to meet growing customer demands and maintain smooth supply chain operations.
The solution
SSI SCHAEFER delivered a custom solution to meet Tri-Art Manufacturing’s operational challenges. At the core of this solution was the SSI Miniload Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), standing 14 feet tall, with two aisles featuring a double-deep storage configuration at each level. This high-density system provided 5,712 storage locations, maximizing warehouse capacity and streamlining inventory management.
To further boost order fulfillment efficiency, SSI SCHAEFER integrated a dedicated picking and packing area with four ergonomic workstations. Totes were automatically delivered to these workstations for rapid, accurate order processing. Additionally, an advanced goods-in and labeling area with eight stations was implemented to manage incoming goods and ensure precise labeling. This streamlined operation ensures that products are properly labeled before advancing to the next stage in the fulfillment process, improving overall efficiency and accuracy.
