FLAT PACK PICKING SOLUTION

Flexible and efficient handling of a heterogeneous product range

The solution combines a high-bay warehouse, which serves as an automatic pallet buffer for order picking, with portal robots to create an efficient overall solution. After passing through a contour/weight check, the pallets are transported via the conveyor system to the storage racks of the high-bay warehouse. There they are temporarily stored by energy-efficient SSI Exyz storage and retrieval machines (SRMs).

Static provision

Slow-moving pallets are transported directly from the storage and retrieval machine to branch conveyors (connecting conveyor technology), which make them dynamically available for picking. Opened source pallets with slow-moving items that are no longer required are returned to storage in the same way.

Dynamic provision

Pallets with fast-moving items are transferred by the storage and retrieval unit to a transfer cart, which places them on static picking stations.

Pallet distribution

The transfer shuttle also distributes order pallets in the picking area.

Storage

SSI Exyz storage and retrieval machines are used for storage in the pallet warehouse, which has almost 900 storage locations. Pallets are retrieved for picking as required, with the way in which the source pallets are provided depending on the classification of the items stored on them.
